1 In February 1975 the band signed with Mercury Records for a million dollars.
The catalyst for the deal was the song, "I'm Not in Love." Studio execs at
Mercury called the song a masterpiece largely in part due to its production
techniques (it took some 256 vocal dubs to complete the harmonies).
An immediate #1, UK chart-topper, it went to #2 in America, "I'm Not in Love"
was put into the band's live set, however the very temperamental backing tapes,
which it required, rarely worked as well as they should have.
It was performed at the show for KBFH, but it did not make it onto the
subsequent LP, In Concert Live. Flawed later versions appear on Live and
Let Live, and on the B-side of 1982's 10" single, "24 Hours." In 1995,
acoustic and remixed versions were created for a new
10cc single and album, Mirror Mirror.
