Bob & Earl Harlem Shuffle Lyrics: [Both:] You move it to the left, yeah, then you go for yourself. You move it to the right if, it it takes all night. [Earl:] Now, baby, kinda slow with a whole lot of soul. [Both:] Don't move it too fast, you make it last. You know you scratch just like a monkey, yeah, you do, real, yeah. You slide it to the limbo, yeah, how low can you go? [Earl:] But oh, come on, baby, I don't want you to stumble now. [Both:] You just grove it right here to the Harlem shuffle. [Backup singers:] [ Find more Lyrics on www.mp3lyrics.org/qYiC ]Yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Harlem shuffle. [Earl:] Oh, do the Monkey Shine now. [Backup singers:] (Yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Harlem shuffle.) [Earl:] Wahh-ahah, wahh-ah-ahh-ahh-ahh-ah-ah, wah-wah-ahh. [Both:] Hitch, hitch hike, baby, across the floor. Whoa, whoa, whoa, I can't stand it no more. [Bob:] Now, come on, baby, now, get into your slide. [Both:] We're gonna ride, ride, ride, little pony, ride, yeah. Shake, shake, shake, shake a tailfeather, baby, (wooo!) Shake, shake, shake, [Fade.] Shake a tailfeather, baby, one more time, (wooo!) Shake, shake, shake... Bob & Earl Harlem Shuffle Lyrics Information:
"HARLEM SHUFFLE" 1
Written by: Earl Nelson & Bob Relf
Produced by: Fred Smith
Arranged by: Barry White
Performed by: Bob & Earl 2 3
First released 4 :
Single: 1963
Album: 1964
1 When released, the single, "Harlem Shuffle," became a modest hit on the U.S.
R&B chart and peaked at #44 in December of 1963, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Its main success, however, came later in 1969, when it was re-released in the UK
and became a Top Ten hit there.
2 The original Bob & Earl duo were Bobby Byrd and Earl Lee Nelson. By 1957,
Byrd had started a parallel solo career, writing and recording, for contractual
reasons, as Bobby Day. In 1960, Day/Byrd and Nelson began recording together as
Bob & Earl, on the Class record label. However, these releases had relatively
little success, and Day/Byrd left Nelson to restart his solo career. In 1962,
Nelson recruited a second "Bob"--Bobby Relf (who also used the stage names of
Bobby Garrett and Bobby Valentino). This duo of Relf and Nelson recorded several
singles for different labels, before recording "Harlem Shuffle" in 1963. Barry
White played the piano on this recording.
