All of his solo recordings employed the successful formula of pop, calypso, and rock. Toward the end of his life, Bloom suffered from depression. Unfortunately, was killed on February 28, 1974, at the age of 28 after charging into a room in a fight over a girl and was accidentally shot in a scuffle with a man who was never identified.
