Frankie ValliMy Eyes Adored You Lyrics:
My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored you
Like a million miles away from me
You couldn't see how I adored you
So close, so close and yet so far
Carried your books from school
Playin' make-believe you're married to me
You were fifth-grade, I was sixth
When we came to be
Walkin' home every day over
Over Barnegat Bridge and Bay
Till we grew into the me and you
Went our separate ways
My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored you
Like a million miles away from me
You couldn't see how I adored you
So close, so close and yet so far
Headed for city lights
Climbed the ladder up to fortune and fame
I worked my fingers to the bone
Made myself a name
Funny, I seemed to find
That no matter how the years unwind
Still I reminisce 'bout the girl I miss
And the love I left behind
My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored you
Like a million miles away from me
You couldn't see how I adored you
So close, so close and yet so far
(My eyes adored you)
All my life I will remember
How warm and tender
(Though I never laid a hand on you)
(My eyes adored you)
We were way back then, whoa, whoa, baby
(Like a million miles away from me)
(You couldn't see how I adored you)
Oh, the feeling, sad regrets
I know I won't ever forget you, my childhood friend
(So close, so close and yet so far)
My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored you
Like a million miles away from me
You couldn't see how I adored you
So close, so close and yet so far
My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored you

Frankie Valli My Eyes Adored You Lyrics Information:
1 "My Eyes Adored You" (original working title, "Blue Eyes in Georgia") was
originally recorded by The Four Seasons in early 1974. After the MoWest label
balked at the idea of releasing it, the recording was sold to Frankie Valli for
$4000.00. After rejections by Capitol, Atlantic, and other labels, Valli
succeeded in getting the recording released on, Private Stock Records, but the
owner/founder of the Private Stock wanted only Valli's name on the label. The
single was released in the U.S. in November of 1974 and topped the Billboard Hot
100 in March of 1975. The single was Valli's first #1 hit as a solo artist, and
remained at number one for one week. Although it was released as a Valli solo
effort, the song is sometimes included on Four Seasons compilation albums.
2 Frankie Valli (born May 3, 1934 as Francis Stephen Castelluccio) scored 29
Top 40 hits with The 4 Seasons, one Top 40 hit under The 4 Seasons alias of 'The
Wonder Who?' and nine Top 40 hits as a solo artist.
3 Covered by: The Countdown Singers, Bert Kaempfert, Arthur Lyman, Barry Manilow,
Johnny Rivera, Joe Stampley, Andy Williams; et al.
4 Transcribed from the track on this album.
5 Barnegat Bay is a small arm of the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 30 miles (50
km) long, along the coast of Ocean County, New Jersey in the United States. It
is a long estuary formed by Barnegat Peninsula, and by the north end of Long
Beach Island. Three bridges span the bay from the mainland to the peninsula: the
Mantoloking Bridge, from Brick Township to Mantoloking, the Thomas A. Mathis,
and J. Stanley Tunney Bridges, from Toms River to Ortley Beach. More than
likely, all of these bridges are referred to, casually, as the Barnegat Bridge.
