Ba-ba-doh, ba-doh, ba-doh, ba-doh-ba,
"Ooo, ooo-bee-doo, ooi-ooi," is sung over the following:
Ba-doh, ba-doh, ba-doh, ba-doh-ba,
Ba-doh, ba-doh, ba-doh, ba-doh-ba,
Ba-doh, ba-doh, ba-doh, ba-doh-ba,
Ba-doh, ba-doh, ba-doh, ba-doh-ba,
Both doo-wop lines are now sung over the following:
Sincerely, oh, yes, sincerely.
'Cause I love you so dearly,
Please say you'll be mine.
Sincerely, oh, you know how I love you.
I'll do anything for you,
Please say you'll be mine.
The doo-wop stops for the following bridge:
Oh, Lord, won't you tell me why,
I love that girlie so?
She doesn't want me,
Though I'll never, never, never, never let her go!
Begin the doo-wop again.
Sincerely, oh, you know how I love you.
I'll do anything for you,
Please say you'll be mine.
The doo-wop stops for the following bridge:
Oh, Lord, won't you tell me why,
I love that girlie so?
She doesn't want me,
Though I'll never, never, never, never let her go!

Written by: Alan Freed1 & Harvey Fuqua
Performed by: Bobby Lester1 & The Moonglows2-1954
Appears on: Rock, Rock, Rock (Original Soundtrack)-1956*, Bunch of
Goodies-1960*, The Best of Bobby Lester & the Moonglows-1962, Oldies But
Goodies: Legendary Hits-1979*, The Best of Doo-Wop Ballads-1989*, Their
Greatest Hits-1997, Malt Shop Memories: Street Corner Symphonies-2006*3,
et al. (*Albums with various artists.)
1At times known as Harvey & the Moonglows, and at other times called Bobby
Lester & the Moonglows. Originally formed in Louisville Kentucky as the
Crazy Sounds, they moved to Cleveland, where the legendary disc jockey, Alan
Freed, renamed them the Moonglows (after his own nickname, "Moondog"). Freed
helped to promote the group during their early years and, in a common
practice of the day, took a co-writer credit as compensation for his
efforts. Singer Harvey Fuqua served as the group's leader and chief writer.
However, vocals were split between Bobby Lester and Harvey Fuqua, and
sometimes, in the group's occasional duet leads, both. The name of the group
often depended on when a record was made. Retrospectively they are just
called, The Moonglows.
2Covered by: The McGuire Sisters, Louis Armstrong, Paul Anka, Connie
Francis, The Four Seasons, The Gatlin Brothers, The Delfonics, The Platters,
The Tokens, Bobby Vee, Kitty Wells, Maureen McGovern, The Supremes and the
composer, Harvey Fuqua, et al.
