[4] BVD stands for Bradley, Voorhees & Day, the New York City
firm that manufactured underwear of this name for both men and women.]

[5] Refers to Country & Western legend, Loretta Lynn who was one of the
leading country vocalists and songwriters during the 1960s and 1970s,
and overall is revered as a country icon.]

[6] Patsy Cline was an American country super-star who enjoyed pop music
crossover success during the early 1960s.]

[7] Kitty Wells was the first female Country singer to top the U.S.
Country charts and it shot her to stardom in the 1960s.]

[8] The Texas longhorn is a breed of cattle known for its characteristic
horns. In the southern part of the U.S., replicas of the horns are very
popular as car hood ornaments.]

[9] Nudie Jeans, unlike the new "pre-wash" craze, come as dark,
non-adulterated denim. The company feels that this way, the wearer can
imprint his or her own personality onto the jeans. As the indigo fades,
it reflects a particular life pattern. While Nudie Jeans may not be
stunning the crowds gathered around New York City catwalks, they have
enchanted a major following in the city and beyond.]

and one of Country music's best-known artists and biggest-selling

[12] Attempting to save money on the production of the album, God & the FBI, the
core group (instruments & vocals by Janis, Jim Cregan, Marc Moreau, and Philip
Clark), did all the singing (with the exception of "Memphis") and either played
all the instruments or created the sounds. When Janis wanted a tuba on this song,
no one was willing to learn the instrument, so what you hear is actually
co-producer Jim Cregan singing a tuba part, which is then electronically dropped
an octave lower and added to the mix.]
