Lesley Gore (born Lesley Sue Goldstein on May 2, 1946), is an American singer-songwriter and one of the most successful solo singers who has been identified with the "girl group" sound. (Her first name is often misspelled Leslie.)

She is perhaps best known for her 1963, #1, pop hit "It's My Party,"1 which she recorded at the age of 16, and was produced by Quincy Jones.2 Jones broadened the teenager's sound by using double-tracked3 vocals of Gores's voice, intricate backup vocals, and horns.

She was born in New York, New York, but was raised in Tenafly, New Jersey. Her father, Leo Gore, was a wealthy, Jewish, manufacturer of children's clothes and swimwear, and she had a younger brother, Michael.
