Michael JacksonBillie Jean Lyrics: [1st verse] she was more like a beauty
queen from a movie scene
I said don't mind, but what do
you mean I am the one
who will dance on the floor in the round
she said I am the one who will dance
on the floor in the round
[2nd verse] she told me her name was Billie
Jean, as she caused a scene
then every head turned with eyes that
dreamed of being the one
who will dance on the floor in the round
[Bridge:] people always told me be careful of what you do
and don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
and mother always told me be
careful of who you love
and be careful of what you do 'cause
the lie becomes the truth
[chorus] Billie Jean is not my lover
she's just a girl who claims that I am the one
but the kid is not my son
she says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
[3rd verse] for forty days and forty nights
the law was on her side
but who can stand when she's in demand
[ Find more Lyrics on http://mp3lyrics.org/hQ ] her schemes and plans
'cause we danced on the floor in the round
so take my strong advice, just
remember to always think twice
(do think twice)
[4th verse] she told my baby that's a threat
as she looked at me
then showed a photo of a baby cries
eyes would like mine
go on dance on the floor in the round, baby
[Bridge:] people always told me be careful of what you do
and don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
she came and stood right by me
then the smell of sweet perfume
this happened much too soon
she called me to her room
[chorus] Billie Jean is not my lover
she's just a girl who claims that I am the one
but the kid is not my son
Billie Jean is not my lover
she's just a girl who claims that I am the one
but the kid is not my son
she says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
she says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
Billie Jean is not my lover
she's just a girl who claims that I am the one
but the kid is not my son
she says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
she says I am the one, she says he is my son
she says I am the one
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover

1 According to some, the phrase, "...dance on the floor, in the round,"
refers to "having sex."
2 "Billie Jean" has been recognized with numerous awards: At the 1984 Grammy Awards the song earned Jackson Best R&B Song and Best R&B Male
Vocal Performance. Winning the Billboard Music Award for Favorite
Dance/Disco 12" LP, their 1980's poll named "Billie Jean" as the Black
Single of the Decade. The American Music Awards recognized the track as
the Favorite Pop/Rock Single.Cash Box honored the song with awards for Top Pop Single and Top Black Single. The track was recognized with the Top International Single award by the Canadian Black Music Awards, and
rewarded with the Black Gold Award for Single of the Year. "Billie Jean"
has also been awarded for its sales, winning the National Association of
Recording Merchandisers Gift of Music Award for Best Selling Single in
1984. By 1989, the standard format single was certified platinum by the
Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) 6 , for shipments of at
least one million units. The digital sales of "Billie Jean" were certified
gold in 2005, for shipments of at least 500,000 units. The total number of
digital downloads in the US, as of March 2009, stands at 864,000. And, it
was to "Billie Jean" that Jackson first performed his famous "Moonwalk."
Billie Jean is a very disputed song. The meaning of the lyrics are often
disputed but the best source is that told by Jackson himself, in an
interview for VH1. The question was, "Does the real Billie Jean know about
the song and if she did what was her reaction?" and Jackson replied, "There
is a girl named Billie Jean, but it's not about that Billie Jean. Billie
Jean is kinda anonymous. It represents a lot of girls who used to - they
used to call them groupies in the '60s - they would hang around backstage
doors and any band that would come to town they would have a relationship
with. And I think I wrote this out of experience with my brothers when I was
little. There were a lot of Billie Jeans out there. Every girl claimed that
their son was related to my brothers."
The short video, directed by Steve Barron, for "Billie Jean" is considered
the video that brought MTV, a fairly new and unknown music channel, into
mainstream attention. It was one of the first videos by a black artist to be
played regularly by the channel, because, at the time, it felt that black
music was "not rock enough."
The song has featured in the film, Charlie's Angels (2000) and the 2002
video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. When re-released, as part of the Visionary7 campaign in 2006, "Billie Jean" charted at number 11 in the
UK. Remaining in the top 200 for over 40 weeks, it was the most successful
reissue by some distance. To this day, "Billie Jean" is still in heavy
rotation; it is played on over 90% of the world's radios and receives more
than 250,000 spins per week in clubs around the world.
