Jim Radburn, is his name,
Lives in a town called Trunky Creek,
Hardly a town just one main street,
But with gold it once knew fame.
Jim's done his time prospecting,
No rock would have him beat,
And there's never a tree that he can't name
He’s milled them all and he know’s their grain,
And to Jim all wood smells sweet.
Yet when he works with metal,
Old Jim seems most at home,
There’s not a horse that he can’t shoe,
And there's not a pick he can't renew,

Jim's kitchen is his castle,
His cat’s, the next of kin,
And there's never a day when the stove isn’t fired,
And there isn't some tea to refresh when you’re tired,

His breed is almost gone,
But the son will value what he knows,
And knowing him they're knowledge grows,

Hardly a town just one main street,
But with gold it once knew fame. (Yeah)

In 1942 he gatecrashed radio station 2KM Kempsey to record at his own expense, his first record, “Song for the Aussies” and “My Final Song.” In 1946 he signed a recording contract with Columbia for their Regal Zonophone label and recorded six titles including his first country classic “When the Rain Tumbles down in July”., which he had written the year before.
