The BeatlesSearchin' Lyrics:
Gonna find her, gonna find her
Well searching, yeah I'm gone a-searching
Searching every which a-way, yeah yeah
Oh lord, I got searching, my good lord son
You know honey searching every which a-way, yeah yeah
But I'm like that Northwest Mountie
You know I'll bring her in someday
Gonna find her, gonna find her
Well now Charlie Chan, Simon Spade got nothing child on me
Sergeant Friday and-a Peter Gunn well I, ooh let ‘em be
No matter where she's hiding she's gonna see me coming
I'm gonna walk right down that street like a Bulldog Drummond
Yeah 'cause I been searching, whoa honey searching
Oh my goodness searching every which a-way, yeah yeah
But I'm like that Northwest Mountie
You know I'll bring her in someday
Gonna find her, gonna find her
Well now Charlie Chan, Simon Spade got nothing child on-a me
Sergeant Friday and-a Peter Gunn well I, ooh let ‘em be
Because no matter where she's hiding she's gonna see me coming
I'm gonna walk right down that street like a Bulldog Drummond
Ah searching, yeah honey, searching, ooh my my goodness
Searching every which a-way, yeah yeah
But I'm like a Northwest Mountie
You know I'll bring her in some day
Gonna find her, gonna find her
Yeah lord, I'm gonna find her
I'm gonna find her

1 The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), colloquially known as Mounties,
is the federal, national, and paramilitary police force of Canada, and one
of the most recognized of its kind in the world. The RCMP was formed in 1920
by the merger of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police with the Dominion
Police. The former was originally named the North-West Mounted Police
(NWMP). Much of the present-day organization's symbology has been inherited
from its days as the NWMP, including a distinctive Red Serge uniform.
2 Charlie Chan, Sergeant Friday, were fictional American detectives popular
in books and on the radio in the 1950s.
3 Simon Spade is supposed to be Sam Spade, another fictional American
detective (see note #2). It is unclear why the Beatles chose to change so
many words in their version of this song. (See Note #5.)
4 Bulldog Drummond is a British fictional character created by "Sapper," a
pseudonym of H.C. McNeile (1888-1937). Drummond is an imitation of the hard
boiled noir-style detectives appearing in contemporary American fiction. The
stories followed Captain Hugh "Bulldog" Drummond, a wealthy former WWI
officer who, after the war, spends his new-found leisure time as a private
detective.
5 This is a cover of the Coaster's version of "Searchin,'" as the Beatles
were fans of American doo wop, which influenced their music in many ways. It
should also be noted that the group, the Oak Ridge Boys, used the same tune
in thier song, "Elvira." I'm not sure if the tune was already in the public
domain at the time Stoller & Lieber wrote the words to "Searchin'," but I'm
guessing it must have been. Attached below is a link to a YouTube video that
clearly demonstrates how close the music is between "Searchin'" and
"Elvira," and a link to the Coasters' version of the song.

8 The first time the Beatles performed "Searchin'" was at the now-famous
Decca audition, the name given to the Beatles' audition for Decca Records,
on January 1, 1962, at the Decca Studios in West Hampstead, north London,
England, before they reached international stardom. Decca's decision to
reject the group is considered to be one of the biggest mistakes in music
history.
