The Browns Lyrics
Lyrics
Scarlet ribbons for
Buttons and bows
They call the wind
My adobe hacienda
You cant grow peaches
Shenandoah
The three bells
Rhythm of the rain
An evening prayer
I still do
Unchained melody
Columbus stockade
Darlin'
Youll always be in my
Easy lovin'

The Browns Lyrics
NEW Lyrics!
Fair and tender ladies
Here today and gone
Beyond the shadow
Big bad john
Eternally
Before the next
Family bible
Send me the pillow
Tip of my fingers
All i had to do
Beautiful lies
Born to be with you

The Browns Old Lamplighter Lyrics:
He made the night a little brighter wherever he would go,
((The old lamplighter of long, long ago 1 .))
His snowy hair was so much whiter, beneath the candle glow,
((The old lamplighter of long, long ago.))

You'd hear the patter/(bom) of his feet/(bom),
As he came todding/(bom) down the street/(bom).
His smile/(bom) would hide a lonely heart/(bom) you see/(bom, bom).
If there were sweethearts in the park,
He'd pass a lamp and leave it dark,
Remembering the days that used to be.
For he recalls/(bom) when dreams were new/(bom),

He loved someone/(bom) who loved him too/(bom).
Who walks with him/(bom) alone in memory/(bom).

He made their night a little brighter wherever he would go.
((The old lamplighter of long, long ago.))

Now if you look up in/(bom) the sky/(bom),
You'll understand/(bom) the reason why/(bom),
The little stars at night/(bom) are all aglow/(bom, bom).
He turns them on when night is here.
He turns them off when dawn is near.
The little man we loved of long ago.

He made ther night a little brighter wherever he would go,
((The old lamplighter of long, long ago.))

1 Early street lights were generally candles, or oil. A lamplighter was an
employee of a town or village who lit street lights in the evening, generally
by means of a long pole. At dawn, he would return and turn them off using a
small hook on the same pole. In some communities, lamplighters served the role
of town watchman. There is a long history of the role of a
lamplighter-as-lightbringer as a symbolic figure in literature.

2 "The Old Lamplighter" reached only #20 on the Country chart in 1960, but
went all the way to #5 on Billboard's Pop 100.

3 The Browns were an American country and folk music vocal trio best known for
their 1959 Grammy-nominated hit, "The Three Bells." The group, was made up of
Jim Ed Brown and his sisters Maxine and Bonnie Brown. They had a close, smooth
harmony characteristic of the Nashville sound, though their music also combined
elements of folk and pop. The Browns appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show and Dick
Clark's, American Bandstand, With an international following, the trio toured
Europe extensively and saw further moderate success on the country music
charts. In 1963, they joined the Grand Ole Opry; and in 1967 the trio disbanded
as the popularity of folk music faded. In 2006, the Browns reunited to perform
"The Old Lamplighter" and "The Three Bells" for the PBS special, Country Pop
Legends.

4 Originally recorded by Sammy Kaye & His Orchestra, with vocals by Billy
Williams, it reached #1 in 1946.
