The BrownsScarlet Ribbons (for Her Hair) Lyrics: I peeked in, to say good night, When I heard my child in prayer. "Send, dear God, some scarlet ribbons, Scarlet ribbons for my hair."
All/(bom) the stores/(bom), Were closed/(bom) and shuttered/(bom), (Bom-bom-bom.) All/(bom) the streets/(bom), Were dark/(bom) and bare/(bom). (Bom-bom-bom.)
In our town, no scarlet ribbons, Not one ribbon for her hair. [ Find more Lyrics on www.mp3lyrics.org/NgRq ]
Through/(bom) the night/(bom), My heart/(bom) was aching/(bom). (Bom-bom-bom.) Just/(bom) before/(bom) The dawn/(bom) was breaking/(bom), (Bom-bom-bom.)
I peeked in and on her bed, In gay profusion lying there, I saw ribbons, scarlet ribbons, Scarlet ribbons for her hair.
If I live to be a hundred, I will never know from where. ((Came those lovely, scarlet ribbons,)) ((Scarlet ribbons for her hair.)) (Doo, doo-do, doo-do-do-doo-do.) Lyrics: Scarlet Ribbons (for Her Hair), The Browns [end]

1 There have been many recordings of "Scarlet Ribbons (For Her Hair),"
especially on Christmas albums, however, the most successful single version was
by The Browns. In December 1959, it reached #7 on the U.S. Country chart and
#13 on the Billboard Top 100, where it remained for 14 weeks.
2 The Browns were an American country and folk music vocal trio best known for
their 1959 Grammy-nominated hit, "The Three Bells." The group, was made up of
Jim Ed Brown and his sisters Maxine and Bonnie Brown. They had a close, smooth
harmony characteristic of the Nashville sound, though their music also combined
elements of folk and pop. The Browns appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show and Dick
Clark's, American Bandstand, With an international following, the trio toured
Europe extensively and saw further moderate success on the country music
charts. In 1963, they joined the Grand Ole Opry; and in 1967 the trio disbanded
as the popularity of folk music faded. In 2006, the Browns reunited to perform
"The Old Lamplighter" and "The Three Bells" for the PBS special, Country Pop
Legends.
3 Initially recorded by Juanita Hall in 1949.
