[1] Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich were the, so-called, girl group, The
Raindrops. Album covers and publicity photos all showed Jeff, Ellie, and
Ellie's younger sister Laura, who otherwise had nothing to do with the group
whatsoever. (It isn't clear why they felt the need to perpetrate this hoax.)
Personal appearances were rare, although they did occur. When they did, Laura
or demo singer Beverly Warren, mimed into a dead microphone. In those days,
none of the kids present seemed to mind or even notice.]
