1 "As Tears Go By" is considered to be the first original composition by Jagger and Richards. Up until
that point they had been performing covers of blues standards. The working title of this song was, "As
Time Goes By," but because there was already a classic song with that title (the one Duley Wilson sings
in the movie, "Casablanca"), Andrew Oldham convinced Jagger and Richards to change it to, "As Tears Go
By." In the U.S., the song peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #10 on the Billboard Easy Listening
chart.
