The Rolling Stones Honky Tonk Woman Lyrics: [Intro featuring cow bell.] I met a gin soaked, bar-room queen in Memphis, She tried to take me upstairs for a ride. She had to heave me right across her shoulder, 'Cause I just can't seem to drink ya off my mind. (It's a-honky tonk women.) (Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues.) I layed a divorcee in New York City, I had to put up some kind of a fight. Through The Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2), a collection of late 1960s singles;
and 2a honky-tonk version entitled, "Country Honk," with slightly different lyrics,
which appears on the album, Let it Bleed.
And 3 the concert rendition of the song featured on,

4 Mick Taylor replaced Brian Jones who was fired because of his heavy drug
use which rendered him unable to tour the U.S. during the summer of 1969.
Shortly thereafter, on July 2, 1969, he was found dead in the pool at his
home 50 miles southeast of London. It was reported that Jones had been
drinking wine and taking downers. |
