The Rolling Stones Time is on my Side Lyrics:
[Bluesy guitar intro.]
(Time is on my side), yes it is.
(Time is on my side), yes it is.
Now you always say,
That you want to be free.
But (you'll come runnin' back,)
Like I said you would, baby.
(You'll come runnin' back,)
Like I told you so many times befo'e.
(You'll come runnin' back to me.)
Yeah, (time is on my side), yes it is.
(Time is on my side), yes it is.
You're searchin' for good times,
But just wait and see.
(You'll come runnin' back.)
I'll take your word, darlin'.
(You'll come runnin' back.)
I'll spend the rest of my life with you, baby.
(You'll come runnin' back to me.)
Go ahead, baby, go ahead.
Go ahead and light up the town,
And baby, do everything your heart desires.
Remember, I'll always be around,
And I know, I know,
Like I told you so many times befo'e,
You're gonna come back.
Yeah, you're gonna come back, baby.
Knockin', yeah, knockin' right on my door.
Yeah!
(Time is on my side), yes it is.
(Time is on my side), yes it is.
'Cause I got the real love,
The kind that you need.
(You'll come runnin' back,)
I knew you would, one day.
(You'll come runnin' back,)
I told you befo'e.

Yeah, (time, time, time is on my side), yes it is.
I said, (time, time, time is on my side), yes it is.
[Fade.]
I said, (time, time, time is on my side.)

[1] For reasons that remain unclear, The Rolling Stones recorded two versions
of this song. The first, with a basic, gospel-like organ chord sequence, was
released as the A-side of a single (B-side: Congratulation), and on the 12 X
5 album, in the US in June 1964. The second, more superior recording had an
memorable, bluesy guitar intro and was released in the UK on January 15, 1965
on the Rolling Stones No. 2 album. This is the version that appears on all of
the "best of" compilations.]
[2] Band lineup, May 1963-May 1969: (1) Mick Jagger (lead vocals, harmonica,

[2a] Contrary to some sources, "Time Is on My Side," first appeared in 1963 on
a little-heard recording by jazz trombonist Kai Winding, with Garnet Mimms's
Enchanters
[4] on vocals. Almost immediately thereafter it was released as a
B-side of a single by Irma Thomas, which is commonly cited as the original
recording. Other covers include: Michael Bolotin, Cat Power, Frank
Chacksfield, The Chamber Academy Ensemble, Lorraine Ellison, Four Plus One,
The Gladiators, Innovations, Beverley Knight, David Ari Leon, Hattie Littles,

Smith, Kim Wilson, et al.]
