The Shields You Cheated, You Lied Lyrics:
[Intro-Doo wop sung over vocal stylings:]
(Bo-bom doo-wop, bo-bom doo-wop, bo-bom doo-wop, bo-bom doo-wop.)
(Bo-bom doo-wop, bo-bom doo-wop, bo-bom doo-wop, bo-bom doo-wop.)
[Frankie Ervin:]
[The doo-wop line from the intro is overdubbed over the first four lines in
the verse below:]
You cheated, you lied,
You said that you love me.
You cheated, you lied,
You said that you want me.
Oh, what can I do,
But just keep on loving you?
Love is something,
You know nothing about.
Love is something,
You can't go without.
So, please try to love me.
Love me like I love you.
Oh-oh oh-oh, please try to love me.
Love me like I love you.
[The doo-wop line from the intro is overdubbed over the first four lines in
the verse below:]

[1] There is a discrepency over the title of this song. I have a promotional
photo of Frankie Ervin, lead singer of the Shields, with the name of the
song on it as, "You Cheated, You Lied." (Same as the name of the cover that
the Shangri-Las did in 1965,) But The American Music Guide (AMG) lists the
title for the Sheilds' version as just, "You Cheated." My gut feeling,
based on what I know about AMG's loose verification policies, is that the
title was printed on the albums as, "You Cheated, You Lied," but somehow
the first entry into the the AMC database omitted the last two words, and
it the incorrect name was just replicated over and over.
[2] Covered by: The Calvanes, The Del Vikings, The Murmaids, P.B.C., The
Shangri-Las, Roland Stone, Kenny Vance & the Planotones, et al.
