[2]When The Supremes made their Motown debut in 1961, they were Diana Ross,   38
Mary Wilson & Florence Ballard. In mid-1967 Ballard left the group and was   39
replaced by Cindy Birdsong, after which they were billed as Diana Ross &   40
the Supremes. Ross left the group toward the end of 1969 (with the   41
execption of one show in Las Vegas in January 1970), to pursue a solo   42
career. She was replaced by Jean Terrell and the three of them recorded   43
under the name, The Supremes, until 1977 with a few personnel changes along   44
the way. Only Mary Wilson stayed with the group from beginning to the   45
  end.[5]   46

[5]Diana Ross reunited with Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong one last time,   58
on March 25, 1983 while taping the "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever,"   59
television special, on which they performed, "Someday We'll Be Together."   60
The number was cut short after Ross pushed Wilson onstage during their   61
performance. Within moments, a number of the other Motown performers   62
flooded the stage, including Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder. Wilson then   63
invited Berry Gordy to join everyone onstage, but Ross snatched her   64
microphone and invited Gordy down herself. The special was edited to remove   65
the incident before the program aired.   66
