1 The title and the lyrics of, "Shapes of
Things," bear a portentous and striking
resemblance to H.G. Well's "future history"
book, which foresaw cities being destroyed by
aerial bombing. The song is one of The
Yardbirds' best-known songs due to Jeff Beck's
guitar solo, which contained heavy amounts of
fuzztone and feedback, both rare at the time.
The song peaked at #7 on the U.K. sharts and
#11 on Billboard's U.S. Hot 100 in April of
1966.
