1 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is a popular driver on the NASCAR circut. NASCAR is a an autoracing
association, which sponsors races that are rapidly becoming one of America’s top spectator
sports.

2 Four by Four (4x4), or FWD (four wheel drive), or AWD (all wheel drive) is a four-wheel
vehicle with a drivetrain that allows all four wheels to receive torque from the engine equally.
While many people associate the term with off-road vehicles and Sport utility vehicles only,
powering all four wheels provides better control in normal road cars on many surfaces. In
abbreviations such as 4x4, the first figure is normally taken as the total number of wheels and
the second is normally taken as the number of powered axle-ends.

3 "Straight pipe" refers to an exhaust pipe that has been altered by removing the muffler to
give the car extra speed. Doing this also removes the muffling sound of the exhaust, creating
loud noises.

4 Mack Trucks is one of the world’s leading truck manufacturing companies. The company’s
headquarters are in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The phrase, "Built like a Mack Truck," has become
part of American slang meaning something that is tough. Belt buckles with the Mack logo on them
are very popular in the US.

5 Wranglers are a brand of blue jeans. The brand is owned by the VF Corporation, who also owns
Lee, JanSport and The North Face, among others. Its headquarters are located in downtown
Greensboro, North Carolina, with production plants in a variety of locations throughout the world.

6 A Skoal ring is the mark made by a round can containing smokeless tobacco, such as chewing
tobacco or snuff. Two of the most popular brands of these tobaccos are Copenhagen and Skoal.
The tins are often kept in a rear pocket of ones jeans. Cowboys and other blue-collar types can
often be seen with the outline of this can in the rear jeans pocket because with time, the tin
wears a white ring on the pocket, hence a "Skoal Ring" or "Cope (short for Copenhagen) Ring."

7 There are several types of gun racks made especially for the storage of guns and rifles. In
this song, the gun rack referred to is one that fits inside the cab of a pickup truck or interior
of a car, is attached to the inside roof, and holds a gun or rifle for easy access by the driver.
This type of carrier is more common in rural areas of the United States.

8 "Rough & Ready" peaked at #13 on the U.S. Country Singles Chart and #28 in Canada on their
country chart, and was certified Gold in the U.S. by the RIAA 10 . Also, a music video was
directed by Michael Salomon, and featured NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
